Again I find myself missing one of my favorite photographic artists. Everything seems to be turned upside down inside out now... so many of those I watched before have chosen not to continue on the new format. I only hope they are all well, and still happy and productive in their artistic fields.

Life is rarely what any of us wish, or expect it to be... but we can sometimes find solace and inspiration in one another's work, and friendship.

To one particular artist I want to say... "I truly pray You are well and happy. I sincerely miss You, and Your soulful heart-searching work. I will always remember Your kind friendship".

Walkabout

Whenever an artist suddenly becomes absent from DA there is a loss. Sadly, considering the size of the DA community, few may be noticed other than by their closest watchers. However, if the artist has been widely viewed, awarded multiple DD's, and received thousands of glowing comments, it is likely a large number of Deviants worldwide will notice... and feel the void. This is as true at DA as it is in any large peer-based community. I always notice, and feel their absence when the artists I closely follow go missing. Some have achieved a remarkable degree of stature, some have presented works to analyze that give pause for reflection, while some have lightened my load by just making me smile. I am a respectful equal opportunity watcher of them all.

Recently one of the very finest photographic artists on DA, and one of my most favorite, seems to have left a void. At least that is what that dreaded damnable line through their moniker suggests. When this happens, I hopefully think, "maybe they are only off on a rejuvenating creative respite... and will be back home soon submitting on DA again." When they fail to return, then my wish is always that they are safe and well, and have found a more personally suitable community... perhaps one with brighter moons, deeper forests, and bluer oceans to photograph. 

All the same, I feel an emptiness, a deep and real loss. I may never know the reason... nor do those who choose to go on walkabout owe anyone an explanation. After all, artists are widely reported to be, well, artists... where life is definitely not a point A to point B journey. Their inspiration springs forth from many twists, turns, potholes, and detours. For their time and effort while here, I sincerely say "Thank You for sharing your wonderful work, and creativity, with all of us. You will be missed."  

It hurts to lose a friend... even one I have never met.

To Those of You on walkabout... "May only the most excellent captures, inspiring dreams, and fervent wishes come true for You!"
